Avenues College students will have numerous opportunities to participate in activities outside the curriculum which support their engagement and learning.
Intercollege Exchange
The Intercollege Exchange is an annual sports and cultural exchange between secondary students from Avenues College in South Australia and Cheltenham Secondary College in Victoria, established in 1965. It offers students opportunities to compete in sports, arts, and music, fostering teamwork, leadership, and lasting relationships. The event supports student wellbeing and positively influences college culture. In 2025, a Mini Exchange was introduced for primary students, with senior squad members mentoring junior teams. The Exchange promotes values of sportsmanship, teamwork, resilience, and respect, aiming to develop confident and responsible adults. Participants commit to honour, respect, and sportsmanship throughout the event.
The Exchange Commitment:
“I have my honour and reputation, and those of my school, at stake and I will behave as befits these commitments. I will show respect, courtesy and consideration to my hosts and the students and staff from both schools. I will compete in my events as well as I am able, in the best sporting interest – and I will be gracious in victory and defeat.”
