At Avenues College, students have numerous opportunities to engage in activities beyond the curriculum that support their personal development, engagement, and learning.
Intercollege Exchange
The Intercollege Exchange is an annual sports and cultural event held between secondary students from Avenues College in South Australia and Cheltenham Secondary College in Victoria. Established in 1965, this exchange provides students with the opportunity to compete in sports, arts, and music, fostering teamwork, leadership, and lasting friendships. The event promotes student wellbeing and contributes positively to college culture.
In 2025, a Mini Exchange was introduced for primary students, with senior squad members mentoring junior teams. The exchange emphasises values such as sportsmanship, resilience, respect, and teamwork, aiming to develop confident, responsible, and respectful young adults.
The Exchange Commitment:
“I have my honour and reputation, and those of my school, at stake and I will behave as befits these commitments. I will show respect, courtesy and consideration to my hosts and the students and staff from both schools. I will compete in my events as well as I am able, in the best sporting interest – and I will be gracious in victory and defeat.”
