Enrolment process - Avenues College

Enrolment process

Thank you for your interest in enrolling your child at Avenues College.

Depending on the age of your child and the entry point to learning, Avenues College has separated the slightly different enrolment processes :

  • Preschool
  • Primary School (reception to year 6) and secondary school (year 7 to year 12)

Zoning limitations apply to all enrolments.  You can check your zoned Preschool, Primary, or Secondary school, using the Department for Education’s online zoning tool.

Priority enrolment is given to children who live within the school zone.

Visit the school enrolment section on the department’s website for more information.

How to Enrol

To enrol at Avenues College, please complete the online registration of interest for enrolment form.

You will also need to submit supporting documentation via email (dl.0906.info@schools.sa.edu.au) or in hard copy. Required documents include:

  • child’s original birth certificate or passport
  • proof of address (for example utility bill or lease agreement)
  • residency visa (if applicable for non-Australian residents).

Enrolment may be delayed if documentation is incomplete. Please indicate on the online form if your enrolment is urgent.

Once your application and supporting documents are received, you will be contacted within 7 days regarding the outcome. If successful, an Enrolment Interview will be arranged to complete paperwork and discuss a start date. Please note that start dates may be aligned with the beginning of a school week or term.

First day support

On your child’s first day, a staff member will meet and support you. A photograph of your child will be taken, and you will receive a copy of the bell times, timetable (for secondary students), and IT support to connect devices. A brief orientation will be provided before your child joins their class.

Year 6 to year 7 (secondary school transition)

The Year 7 enrolment process is managed by the Department for Education, via an online link provided by your child’s current primary school. You will be asked to:

  • complete personal information
  • nominate up to three preferred secondary schools.

Preferences are reviewed based on zoning, school capacity, and other criteria. You will be notified of your child’s allocated secondary school and provided with relevant documentation. You may appeal decisions if necessary.

Transition days are held for year 6 students to visit their secondary school, meet peers and teachers, and participate in orientation activities. These two days are consistent across all public schools in SA.
